DreamLake
2, Pegs 26-29
This is the north end of
the lake and always seems to fish better with a S or SW
wind on the lake.
This
end of the lake is shallower by approx. 1ft than the southern end
of the lake so tends to fish better in the warmer weather
and summer.
A
silt gully runs down the lake at 70yds range with a depth of 7ft.
At 25yds from the bank the shelf drops away from 5ft into 7ft
of
water and the fish tend move up and down the shelf. In front of
each swim there are clay, silt and gravel patches, some bigger
than
others and therefore more obvious when "leading" or using
the marker float.
Peg 27 is a large, very flat
swim which gives you plenty of options and in all 4 of these
swims you do not need to fish at a distance further than 70yds.
If you fish further than this then you are heading towards
the opposite bank swims and more importantly you may be fishing
past a lot of the fish. I don't like to have the person opposite
me fishing on top of me as I like to fish in my own way and
not do the work for someone else to reap the rewards! Keep
your options open and, because of the nature and shape of the
lake, you will need to bait up heavily to hold the fish. Your
spod rod here is a very important piece of tackle. Put it to
good use! At first, I would try fishing at 3 different distances
over 3 different features and watch for the fish moving/feeding.
Attempt to read where the majority of the fish are showing
and feeding in front of you and don't hold back with the bait
if they start having it! If one rod starts producing well,
try to put a second rod on the area and develop the swim into
giving you more takes.
