DreamLake
2, Peg 16
If the fish have pushed up
this end of the lake on a N to NW wind then this peg can
be a real winner. It is also a great peg to be in during
the colder months as the water here is slightly deeper
than at the other end of the lake by at least 1ft.
You
have all the tree-line to go at to your left with 4-5ft of depth
straight off the end of the branches. You also have the
opportunity
to fish the open water features with an average depth of 8ft from
40yds out from your bank. You can also try fishing a bait
towards
the corner if a fish is "crashing" in there on a night.
There is 5-6ft depending how close you are going into the corner.
There are a lot of largish areas of silt with some gravel spots
amongst them at all ranges. Look out for the water being coloured
up by feeding/rummaging fish getting stuck into the bottom of the
lake!
If
the fish are "jammed" towards the tree-line, then I would
fish 2 rods really close to the branches, (probably the LHR and
the MR) but I would back them off by 5yds on a night to give me
time to keep the fish out of the branches. I would also fish "locked
up" as the line stretch will indicate a take and encourage
the fish to kite out into open water. I also think that the fish
will move out slightly as darkness approaches so you do not need
to fish hard up to the trees. I don't think they go far though
if the wind has been pushing in that direction for a period of
time. I would leave the third rod 10yds off the trees with a PVA
bag to fish as a lone rod offering a quick "snack" for
a fish. When you have got the fish, PILE IT IN AND HOLD THEM!
