Well, a few pre-season sessions are underway and despite some ‘interesting’ weather conditions, the signs are good and the fish are feeding.

Sam Martin had a great time on DL1 taking a 26 fish catch, including 3 x 30’s and a new PB 50lb 8oz common. Steve Royce and Scott Sibson managed a respectable 15 x 20’s and 6 x 30’s from DL2 while Martin Ravenhills group of 4 took 42 x 20’s, 13 x 30’s and 5 x 40’s to 48lb from DL3. At the same time, Scott Waterland had 3 x 20’s and 4 x 30’s from DL4, Richard Dickinson took a New DL4 Record Cat at 97lb as well as 15 others to a 40lb mirror and Brian Davies had 20 x 20’s, 3 x 30’s and a 40lb+ from DL5.

A mid-March trip for Sean Fretwells crew of 4 certainly provided some challenging weather as they sustained an onslaught of wind and rain that “threatened to blow me and my bivvy into the lake” said Sean. “In fact” he said “we probably only managed to fish DL1 for 2 out of the 4 days…. but when it delivered 110 fish to 56lb 8oz, we could hardly complain!” Having been seriously blown about, Sean continued “We then split into two groups of 2 and while Andy and Daryl spent a couple of days on DL3, Arron and I went on DL2. Together, Arron and I took 9 fish to 42lb 8oz while the others took 16 fish to a beautiful 53lb common. Andy was really pleased (as you can imagine) and didn’t even mind a good soaking!” Seans group were using pop-up plastic corn, pop-up Lee Jackson Specials with chopped Cell and Strawberry boilies.

Finally, for now at least, Mark & Peter Munson fished DL3 at the end of March and took a 28 fish catch including 10 x 30’s, commons of 44lb and 47lb as well as 2 cats of 50lb and 65lb. It seems they had a good week too!
